Solution for busy Pilates Studio

We are a busy Pilates studio in the West End that needed to look at creating a quieter and private space for one-to-one sessions, within our main studio.
Tony and the team were extremely helpful and efficient from start to finish. Tony’s advice and recommendations were greatly appreciated as we really didn’t know where to begin with this project! Installation was accommodated around our peak times to minimise the impact on our clients, even when this was outside of their normal working hours, and the team was again efficient, tidy, and helpful.

We are delighted with the results of the project and we would recommend Wavelength Acoustics for any similar projects or requirements.

Office phone booths

We were asked to provide acoustic curtains to create two phone booths at opposite ends of a corridor.
The customer is a busy city-centre finance company and the main office has hard surfaces that reflect sound, making it difficult to speak to customers on the telephone.
Their designer specified the facing material (Linwood Fabrics Omega-Atlantis). We made the drapes with 50% fullness, lined with 800g wool serge. The tracks were Triple E 2Way, fixed directly to the ceiling.
This created 2 areas where the background noise levels were significantly reduced, making phone calls much easier.

Before and After: South London Studio

2x drapes, each 4mW x 3.2mD, 800g wool serge, 2 layers, 50% fullness. 2Way track suspended from concrete slab.

FOH and masking drapes

A village hall in Hertfordshire had undergone an extensive renovation and just needed new curtains to complete the programme. They wanted the stage to look like a professional theatre so we supplied a pair of Heavy Velvet Velour curtains, lined with sateen to give a sumptious finish to the venue. Matching masking drapes were supplied to mask off the wings.
Blackout curtains, velvet velour with Eclipse lining

Blackout drapes

The same hall needed blackout curtains on all of the windows and doors. We supplied a complete set made from Velvet Velour with uV resistant Eclipse lining. Professional standard curtain tracks were fitted to allow smooth operation and a long working life.

Acoustic curtains

An office in London had a problem with noise from the main area being reflected into the mezzanine meeting area. We supplied 3 pairs of Silver Velvet Velour curtains, lined with kilo wool serge. The curtains were hung on 3x motorised tracks of different lengths due to variations in the window sizes. The 3 tracks were programmed on a single radio remote channel. A radio switch was mounted on the wall at each end of the room.

Track Maintenance

"Thank you again for your prompt and professional service" Mark Allbut- Manager.

We recently had an urgent call from Fenland Crematorium. They have a Hall Stage T60 motorised track and the steel cable had worn out - it was literally hanging on by the last thread.

We were on site within 48 hours and just in time- the last strand broke as it wound off of the drum. The system was then re-cabled and the limits set in time for the first service of the day.

Barn Studio Conversion

To do this, we chose a U-shaped Triple E 2Way track on Hall Stage wall brackets and set golf bag hooks 30mm below the top of the drape. This meant that there wasn’t a gap between the drape and the track, giving the maximum usable height of the black backdrop.

The drape was supplied by J&C Joel Ltd. and was made from Premier wool serge, sewn flat to give an even background as all filming is done close to the drape. The acoustics in the room are improved noticeably when the drape is deployed.

Acoustic Curtains for City Centre House

The answer was to use multiple layers of Kilo wool serge with a Bolton Twill face fabric. Professional quality tracks were fixed directly to the ceiling and the curtain hooks were set below the tops of the drapes to ensure that there were no gaps at the top.

The difference was immediately noticeable and even the sound of bus engines almost completely disappeared.

Central London Home Studio

We were contacted by a leading actor/voice artist who was having problems the acoustics in his home studio. Even though the flat was several storeys above the London Street level, there was a background rumble from the traffic below. The room also suffered from harsh internal reflections as well as internal noise from the rest of the flat coming through the door. To reduce the noise to an acceptable working level, we installed two double layer acoustic curtains made from slate coloured wool serge and 800g black wool serge.
The drapes were hung on Triple E 2way tracks. We chose 2Way because it looks is strong enough to be mounted directly to a plasterboard ceiling and can be shaped to hide the curtains when not in use. The difference in the room was very noticeable, with a drop in both the exterior rumble and internal reflections. Noise from the other rooms in the flat was also reduced significantly.
